Dr. Timothy Tsang was born and raised in Toronto and attended Crescent School before earning his Honorable Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto. He furthered his education at the Illinois College of Optometry, where he graduated cum laude with a Doctorate of Optometry. Dr. Tsang completed multiple clinical externships at Veteran Affairs Medical Centers in the United States as well as abroad in Australia and received recognition for clinical honors at all of his rotations. Dr. Tsang received a scholarship to continue his academic pursuits and completed a residency program at the Illinois College of Optometry in primary care and ocular disease. In his first year as a faculty member at ICO, he received the distinction of Clinical Educator of the Year. He has served as a Clinical Lecturer, Assistant Professor of Optometry, as well as on the Admissions Committee at the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Tsang has presented in Optometry conferences and has also published in peer-reviewed journals. He also serves as a peer reviewer for the Canadian Journal of Optometry. At the Vision Institute of Canada in Toronto, Dr. Tsang served as the Director of Ocular Disease Services for four years and has been a representative of the Eye Health Council of Ontario.
Currently Dr. Tsang is in private practice in Vaughan and is a Clinical Adjunct Lecturer of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. He trains Optometry students at the University of Waterloo and in his private practice. He is the Staff Optometrist at Mon Sheong Richmond Hill Long Term Care Centre and is actively involved as a Director of the Board and Education Lead for the Ontario Association of Optometrists.
Dr. Tsang has extensive experience diagnosing, treating, and managing ocular disease conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, corneal/retinal/optic nerve pathology, uveitis, and ocular complications associated with diabetes, hypertension and other systemic conditions. He has served as an Attending Optometrist in the Emergency Department at the Illinois Eye Institute and is certified in controlled substances, diagnostic, topical and oral therapeutic agents.
Dr. Miranda Mok, O.D.
Clinical Instructor of Optometry, University of Waterloo
Dr. Miranda Mok was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and moved to Ontario to earn her Honorable Bachelor of Science at Queen's University. She attended Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago and graduated cum laude with a Doctorate of Optometry degree. She was selected to complete the clinical honours program where she received additional training in Pediatrics and Contact Lenses. Dr. Mok completed clinical externships at two veteran hospitals (John D. Dingell Veterans Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan and Palo Alto VA Medical Center in Palo Alto, California) where she specialized in diagnosing and managing ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and dry eye syndrome. Dr. Mok also completed an externship at the OMNI Eye Services in Iselin, New Jersey where she co-managed in the treatment and care of pre/post-operative conditions including cataract, glaucoma and retinal surgeries.
As an active member of the community, Dr. Mok has participated in Illinois Special Olympics eye screenings and the Pediatric Outreach Program in Chicago where she gave free pediatric eye exams at local pre-schools. Dr. Mok has also traveled to San Carlos, Mexico with a group of eye doctors and volunteers from a Rotary Club to provide complimentary examinations and eyewear to residents in rural areas.
Dr. Mok is back in Canada and providing family eye care for people of all ages, including infants and toddlers. She also has a special interest in behavioral optometry and offers vision therapy at Upper Thornhill Eye Clinic. Dr. Mok works part-time at a refractive surgical clinic in Toronto to provide LASIK/PRK/RLE/Corneal cross-linking consultations and post-operative care. She is currently a Clinical Instructor of Optometry for the University of Waterloo and trains students in private practice.
Dr. Mok is a member in good standing of the Canadian Optometric Association and the Ontario Association of Optometrists. She is also certified in controlled substances, diagnostic, topical and oral therapeutic agents.
Valerie has been with Upper Thornhill Eye Clinic since we opened in 2010. As our senior staff member, she is skilled in all aspects of the office. She works with the staff and doctors to ensure that you have a smooth and enjoyable experience at our office. As a contact lens wearer herself, she enjoys educating and training patients on proper lens wear and care. Valerie graduated from McMaster University with an Honors degree in Bachelor of Science and is fluent in Mandarin and English.
Amy joined Upper Thornhill Eye Clinic in 2013. As our clinical optician with 10 years of optical knowledge and experience, she uses her expertise to help you select the most suitable frame and lenses based on your prescription and lifestyle. Amy is a graduate from the University of Toronto with an Honors degree in Bachelor of Science, specializing in Human Biology. Following university, Amy received her Opticianry diploma and was awarded the Essilor Award for being the top student of her class. Amy is fluent in both Cantonese and English.
Lens and Frame Specialist/ Eyewear Consultant
Elizabeth joined our clinic in 2011 and has since become the eyewear expert. She uses her extensive training to help you find the perfect frames and lenses based on your individual prescription, specific needs and lifestyle. She also takes the time to carefully educate and train our patients with proper contact lens wear and care. Elizabeth graduated from University of Toronto with an Honors degree in Bachelor of Science and is fluent in Mandarin and English.
Lens and Frame Specialist/ Eyewear Consultant
Tamika has been with Upper Thornhill Eye Clinic since 2012 and in the short amount of time has gained an in-depth knowledge of lenses and frames. She works closely with the doctors to guide you with the selection of your eyewear, always taking into account your prescription, vision needs and lifestyle. Additionally, Tamika is very proficient with all the new diagnostic equipment in our office. With her upbeat personality, she is ready and willing to assist you in any way. Tamika is currently enrolled at York University and working towards her degree in Communications.

Sofiya joined Upper Thornhill Eye Clinic in 2012. She is a pleasant individual who will book your appointment, guide you through all preliminary tests and answer any questions with a warm smile. She goes above and beyond to communicate the needs of our patients to the doctors. She is also always checking for your e-mails and updating our website and Facebook page. Sofiya graduated from University of Ontario Institute of Technology with an Honors degree in Bachelor of Commerce and is fluent in Tamil and English.
