Vision Therapy

Vision therapy is a type of training used to improve the coordination and focusing ability of the eyes and is an effective non-surgical treatment for many common visual problems such as lazy eye, crossed eyes, double vision, convergence insufficiency, accommodative or focusing issues, and in some cases of reading and learning difficulties.

In the case of learning difficulties, vision therapy is specifically directed toward resolving visual problems which interfere with reading, learning and educational instruction. Some symptoms of binocular vision disorders include: squinting, rubbing eyes, holding things very close, poor reading comprehension, eyes feeling tired, short attention span, headaches with near work, reversing letters, and trouble remembering what was read.

  • What is involved in a Vision Therapy program?

    Vision therapy is:
    • A progressive program of vision “exercises” or procedures
    • Performed under doctor supervision;
    • Customized/individualized to fit the visual needs of each patient
    • Conducted in-office at weekly sessions of 30 minutes
    • Supplemented with procedures done at home between office visits (“home reinforcement” or “homework”)
    • Therapy training in virtual reality space with Vivid Vision (for eligible candidates as determined by your Optometrist);
    Depending on the case, the procedures are prescribed to:
    • Help patients develop or improve fundamental visual skills and abilities;
    • Improve visual comfort, ease, and efficiency;
    • Change how a patient processes or interprets visual information

    UTEC is pleased to offer the Vivid Vision platform of vision therapy training in virtual reality. For more information visit: https://www.seevividly.com/
